A cold front crosses Colorado on Friday, October 23, triggering a 30-degree temperature drop across the region by Saturday morning.
Pueblo is expected to reach a high of 80 degrees on Friday, its warmest day in the coming week. That warmth will end abruptly as the front pushes through, bringing Saturday high temperatures down to the 50s and increasing the likelihood of rain.
Morning conditions in Pueblo are forecast to be in the 50s with cloud breaks allowing sunshine by 10 a.m. along Interstate 25. The front, advancing from the west, will add cloud cover and generate storms farther south. The chance of rain on Pueblo’s south side is estimated at 10% to 20% on Friday, with wetter conditions arriving over the weekend.
Neighboring areas face similar shifts. Colorado Springs will top out at 73 degrees on Friday, falling to the 50s on Saturday. Canon City has a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon showers with a high of 75. Woodland Park is forecast to reach only 58 degrees on Friday, followed by weekend rain. Monument and the Tri-Lakes area will see 69 degrees on Friday before Saturday highs drop to the 50s.
Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad are predicted to hit 73 and 74 degrees respectively on Friday. Both towns are forecast to have their warmest days of the next seven days before weekend highs plummet to the 50s. The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
Mountain areas will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Swell and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado as water levels take time to recede. The forecast calls for calmer conditions next week, with sunshine and gradual warming into the 60s. A preliminary Halloween outlook projects dry weather with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
